West Coast Challengers attended the 14th Annual John Force Holiday Car Show together with SoCal Challengers. This was the first event where the two rival Challenger car clubs have come together and no event was more worthy — CHiPs for Kids, a toy drive to help less fortunate children in our communities have plenty of presents to open this holiday season.

Members from both clubs met up around the corner and were greeted by a cold and brisk morning breeze. After chatting it up for a bit, we rolled out in no particular order — just one long line of Dodge Challengers.

Upon arriving at John Force Racing, the Challengers were parked perpendicular along Old Canal Road at the corner of Eastpark Drive, right across the street to where John Force Racing calls home. The parking spot allowed club members to watch the parade of cars coming to attend the show. I think originally slated for 700 cars, more than 1,000 showed up. All of the nearby streets were packed full of classic cars, hot rods and million dollar exotic cars. Nothing was off limits.

At 11:00 am, the two clubs walked their toy donations up to the donation center in front of the John Force Racing building. The members of SoCal Challengers each donated bicycles, as they do each year, and members of West Coast Challengers donated bags and bags of toys for the children. The donation center was manned with California Highway Patrol officers and volunteers who were happy to receive the hefty assortment of donations.

For lunch, some of the club members chose to eat at one of the two In-N-Out Burger trucks that were brought in for the car show while others chose to walk around the corner to Chevy’s for a quick lunch.

The number of cars was staggering but the number of spectators who came to view all of the cars was mind blowing. I couldn’t begin to estimate how many came out today, many bringing gift donations of their own.

By days end, what started out as a few simple stacks of toys and presents had swelled into mountain of what we know will be smiles on the faces of more than few children this holiday season — and that’s what it’s all about. :)

Some pictures from the event can be found in our club photo gallery.

  1. West Coast Challengers & SoCal Challengers –

I wanted to take this opportunity to personally thank both of your car clubs for attending our 14th annual John Force Holiday Car Show this past Sunday. Your clubs are a huge feature of the show and we always enjoy making a big display for your Challengers. But not only do you show your vehicles, you all support the California Highway Patrol’s – “CHiP’s For Kids” the toy drive, with your many toy donations.

The show this year was our biggest and best show ever. We had 987 show vehicles registered, approximately 20,000 people in attendance and collected nearly 9,000 toys for the California Highway Patrol’s – “CHiP’s for Kids” toy drive.

Merry Christmas & God Bless All Of You!!!!
