A handful of West Coast Challengers club members attended the 8th Annual “Mopars by the Bay” Car Show in beautiful Monterey, CA. We all left our various homes at different times to head north, and we all meet up on Friday evening at Fisherman’s Wharf for the event’s show and shine which was a lot of fun. Afterwards, there was a cruise that routed us through Monterey and culminated on Cannery Row. It was a nice warm up for the ensuing 17 mile cruise that would occur on Sunday. After the cruise, we all went out to dinner at Bubba Gump’s and had a great time sharing stories over dinner.

On Saturday morning, we all once again met up at Fisherman’s Wharf to get checked into the car show and to be given directions to our designated parking area. The car show was wonderfully staged and took place inside of the picturesque Custom House Plaza on its brick lined courtyard and walkways. The morning was a bit foggy and damp, but that all burned off as the sun rose higher in the sky.

This year didn’t see as many vintage Mopars as last year, but there were a lot of everybody’s favorite — the Dodge Challenger, about 40 of them in all. Our modern Mopar brethren of Dodge Chargers, Dodge Magnums, and Chrysler 300’s were also plentiful this year as well as a smattering of PT Cruisers. There were also two Vipers (sweet) and two Ram trucks on display as well.

During the day, we all had a great time chatting it up with the other clubs and club members from from CenCalLX, NorCal Challengers, West Coast Mayhem and Bay Area Modern Mopars. They all brought out some very nice cars and we had fun checking them all out and taking pictures.

The car show culminated with the announcement of the awards ceremony. Club member Tony, with his Hennessey HPE 550 Dodge Challenger, won 1st Place in the modified Challenger class. Club members Clemente, Terrance and Eloy each won a Sponsor’s Choice award. All in all, we had a fun time checking out all the nice cars in the show.

On Sunday, we again met up at Fisherman’s Wharf for the start of a cruise through the 17 mile loop at Pebble Beach. The weather was just picture perfect which made the scenery that much more spectacular. It was difficult not letting the horses loose on the Challengers while driving through all of the twists and turns! After the cruise, we all headed back to our hotels and began packing up for our long trip home, happy to have had the opportunity to participate in this event again this year.

This was definitely a great event and we’d like to tip our hats to all of the members of Monterey Bay Mopars for the great job they did in putting it all together.

More pictures from the three-day event can be found in our club photo gallery.
