West Coast Challengers was once again invited to participate in the annual “Salute to Veterans” parade in downtown Riverside, CA. Still excited from last year’s parade, the club reached the maximum capacity for this event in no time at all. The balance of club members attending chose to take up space along the sidewalk on the parade route to take in the entire parade.

Club members met up early in a nearby parking lot for preliminary staging and some quick last minute detailing of our cars.

After giving the cars a quick detail and getting some event updates, the club members rolled out according to their Challenger’s color with club member Nolan directing and sorting traffic by color. The parade group then caravanned over to the parade staging area where our cars were lined up and put on display while waiting for our turn to roll onto the parade route and into the parade.

Arriving at the parade staging area, the club members took to decorating their Challenger with American flags and going over some last minute preparations.

Once the signal was given for our parade group to roll out, the club members formed up side by side to form two columns and turned onto the parade route which traversed through the cordoned off streets of downtown Riverside.

Once again, this years’ parade had thousands of spectators lining the parade route and when our parade group of Challengers came into view, the crowds waved their American flags and broke out in cheer as we passed by. In turn, the club members revved their engines to the pleasure of the crowd.

The club members who were not actually participating in the parade with their cars had fun on the parade route watching the many floats, drill teams, marching bands, and military vehicles pass by. All through out the day, vintage military aircraft would conduct fly overs right down the main parade route which left everyone in awe.

West Coast Challengers is honored to have participated in “Salute to Veterans” parade again this year, and we are extremely grateful for the sacrifices of both the men and women who have served in our armed forces as well as the sacrifices made by their families.

After the parade, the club members caravanned over to Killarney’s Restaurant and Irish Pub for some lunch and relaxation, and to share parade stories with each other. Our waitress was gracious to enough to come outside and pose for pictures with a few of our Challengers, and did so like a pro. Kudos to her for taking a break and doing it on her own time after having spent the last few hours serving some 40 club members and their families lunch.

More photos from the parade can be found in our club photo gallery.
