West Coast Challengers made an appearance at the Diamond Bar Birthday Car Show helping to celebrate the city’s 22nd birthday.

We had a great time. We rolled in almost last and remarkably were assigned spaces right up front, as if they were expecting us. Then we asked if we could set up our easy-up and they said of course, so the easy-up got space #1 and we threw the club banner up.

All day long droves and droves of people were checking out and taking pictures of our cars. More so than any other event that I have attended in the past. One after another, people would come up and talk to us. It didn’t dawn on me until late in the afternoon that, because of where we were parked, right up against the main tent for the event, and because of our club shirts have the Dodge logo on them, that people thought we worked for Dodge and had the cars on display. One guy even told me as much, “Oh, I just figured because it says Dodge on your shirt.” 😀 Of course, sitting down in a chair with the West Coast Challengers on the back of the shirt obscured, I guess it would be an easy mistake to make, plus with our easy-up, we looked like all the rest of the vendors on display.

Besides the car show section, there were display booths including ones from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the California Highway Patrol, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. They also had a job fair area along with numerous food and drink vendors. Carnival rides for the kids were also found throughout the park.

All in all, it was fun day and there were many top notch restoration cars on hand and plenty of pleasant people to talk to, including the Mayor and some City Council members.

Pictures from the event can be found in our club photo gallery. And even more pictures can be found in the The Neighborhood Files of the Patch, Diamond Bar’s local newspaper.
