The Hemi Highway Tour ended its arduous 8,000 mile trek across America in Southern California with stops in Burbank, Irvine, Huntington Beach and Corona. West Coast Challengers braved the rain and was present at each of the four stops in support of the all new 2011 Dodge Charger and 392 Challenger.

While Southern California is well known for its sunny and pleasant weather, to our dismay. A cold arctic storm blew in from the north and made each of the four stops rather wet and down right cold.

At the Irvine stop of the Tour, hosted by the Cars & Coffee meet and greet event, a normal turn out of several hundred cars went missing as the rain kept most at home. Thankfully, several club members were on hand to lend support to the Tour or else the parking lot would have been virtually empty.

The stop at Beach Burgers in Huntington Beach was an unpublished stop for the Hemi Highway Tour and hosted by the SoCalLX car club. This is the club that helps bring you Spring Fest each year, so Dodge gave them the attention that they deserve. In fact, upon our arrival, several SoCalLX members had informed us that Dodge was also bringing a film crew along for this stop. Again, unfortunately, the weather acted as a deterrent to filming outside, where our members again had staked out prime parking in front.

As if saving the best for last, the final stop of the Hemi Highway Tour at SMS Supercars in Corona turned out extremely well for the club. Being this stop was on a Monday (and raining cats and dogs), not a lot of people showed up. This gave the club unrestricted access to both the new 2011 Dodge Charger and the new 392 Challenger, as well as letting us to personally get to know Scott and Heather, the drivers of the two vehicles.

Steve Saleen himself made an appearance and graciously put Kent Lang, an SMS retail sales specialist, at our disposal for the entire day, who gave us both a tour of the facility and allowing us to see the SMS Challenger in the various stages of being built.

If you missed the Tour, pictures of it can be found in our club photo gallery.

Larry also wrote a great article on the all new 392 Dodge Challenger. Give it a read if you are at all curious about what’s in store for the 2011 Challenger. First Look: The New 392 Dodge Challenger.
