West Coast Challengers attended the 3rd annual “Jeff’s Fun Run” (poker run) hosted by a fellow local club, Pickups Limited, Orange County Chapter. This was the first poker run for many of our club members, after which they became very excited to do more.

Beginning at Ken Grody Ford in Buena Park, the Fun Run took to us all to various automotive hot spots in and around Orange County like Classic Performance Parts, American Hot Rods and Hot Rods & Hobbies, and finally ending at the famous Bob’s Big Boy in Downey, CA. None of the members managed to make much of a poker hand during the run, except for Phil who had the makings of a flush before busting out. The winning poker hand of the day was a Jack-high straight.

The 50/50 drawing for the day was pushing $1,500, which seemed rather high based upon the number of people at the event. I guess after playing poker for a few hours, gambling some more would seem almost trivial. The winner was none other than a member from the hosting club, Pickups Limited, but to his credit and generosity, he threw back in half of the money and a second ticket was drawn for one lucky winner. Proceeds from the event went to help and support Cancer research.

Pictures of the event can be found in our club photo gallery.
