West Coast Challengers held its 5th Annual "Charcoal & Challengers" club BBQ and family day event. As always, club members were invited to bring their families and pets out to a local park for a day of relaxation, and of course plenty of food and refreshments.

During the morning and while waiting for others to arrive, some club members took the time to explore the paths and enjoy both the park and the lake, while others chose to just sit back and relax in the shade while visiting with fellow club members. A peacock came to visit and stayed quite a while causing some to ask who the new club member was. :)

As in years past, it took several picnic tables to hold the spread of food, snacks and drinks generously donated by both the club and club members. We covered all of the major food groups — Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chicken, and Pork. In addition, club member Vic brought some delicious shish kebabs and others brought some of their favorite dishes..

By 10:00 am, we had most of the parking lot filled on both sides and began using an overflow parking lot. At about noon, the BBQ’s were lit and our chefs for the day began cooking up the food for the masses. In addition we had the customary potato salad and macaroni salad, chips and cookies. Just too many to list.

We had several generations of club members on hand, with many children and grand-children who played games and all became quick friends with each other.

Relaxing a while longer, the day seemed to go by so fast and members began saying their good-byes as they peeled off one at a time for the rest of the day. The day was a complete success and all those present came to the park with smiles on their faces and left with even bigger ones.

Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy our annual picnic and to all of those who graciously brought snacks, dishes and refreshment for us all to enjoy.
